Gburugburu's Lifesaving Free Surgery Initiative Persists, Completing Latest Procedures for Six Enugu Residents on 20th, 24th and 27th of August 2023.


The Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, a life-saving humanitarian initiative initiated by the former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, continues to make a significant impact by providing critical medical care to indigent citizens in need. The program successfully performed surgeries on six individuals, including two children, on the 20th, 24th, and 27th of August 2023.

Former Governor Ugwuanyi's commitment to the health and well-being of Enugu citizens, even after leaving office, has earned him widespread praise and appreciation. The recent surgeries stand as a testament to the enduring impact of this program, which has proven instrumental in addressing the medical needs of those who lack the financial means to seek necessary medical attention.

Dr. George Ajogwu, the Director General of the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, reiterated the program's dedication to relieving the healthcare burdens faced by Enugu residents. He highlighted that the former Governor's continued sponsorship of the initiative serves as vital support to the current administration led by Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and Deputy Governor Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai.

The latest series of surgeries, conducted on the 20th, 24th, and 27th of August 2023, has brought the total number of beneficiaries under the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme to an impressive 1,343 individuals. This milestone showcases the tangible impact of the program on the lives of countless Enugu citizens who have received crucial medical interventions.

Details of the six Beneficiaries;

1. Odoh Favour, 22yrs 07040423337, had left breast lump and Lumpectomy done. 

2. Onyeabor Victor, 4yrs 07014098218, had Right Hydrocoele of the cord and Herniotomy, Herniorrhaphy and Orchidopexy were done.

 3. Livinus prince, 2yrs 07035272900, had Right Hydrocoele of the cord and Herniotomy, Herniorrhaphy and Orchidopexy were done. 

4. Okoro Romanus 72yrs. 08032971086 had left inguinal hernia and herniorrhaphy done.

5. Elias Ogbobe, 60yrs 07042734033, had left inguinal hernia and herniorrhaphy done

 6. Udaya Josephine, 19yrs 08161189633, had breast Lump and Lumpectomy done.


Total Number of Beneficiaries as of 27th of August 2023 = 1,343.
