Enugu Governor, Mbah Commends Nigerian Army for Improved Security and Peace in the State

Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has expressed his gratitude towards the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their significant contribution to the improved security situation and the cessation of the sit-at-home protests in the state. The governor assured the public that his administration would remain vigilant to sustain the peace.

Major General Hassan Dada, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division of the Nigerian Army in Enugu, reiterated that the increased security measures were yielding positive results due to the deployment of substantial resources and manpower. He emphasized citizens' safety as they carry out their daily activities.

During a meeting at the Government House, Governor Mbah acknowledged the role of security in fostering a conducive environment for private sector investment and economic growth. He highlighted that the end of the sit-at-home protests was crucial to improving the state's image, psychological well-being, and economy.

"We want to thank you in particular because of the sort of dedication and commitment we have witnessed in you and we must also by extension express our profound gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for bringing you here because we can see that not only have we been able to escort this big elephant called sit-at-home out of our state, but we are also enjoying a relatively peaceful and secure environment in our state today,” Governor Mbah stated.

Governor Mbah emphasized the necessity of continued vigilance and cooperation between the government and security agencies. He cautioned against complacency as criminals had resorted to social media propaganda following their defeat in the physical realm.

General Dada, in turn, lauded Governor Mbah for his leadership in addressing insecurity and illegal sit-at-home activities. He highlighted the role of collaborative efforts between the government, the Army, and other security agencies in restoring peace to Enugu State.

The GOC also reassured the public that the support of the Army's high command would contribute to further improvements in security. "Let me assure you that with the support of my bosses, the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Staff, things can only but get better," General Dada commented.

The meeting demonstrated the shared commitment of the Enugu State government and the Nigerian Army to ensure the safety and well-being of the state's residents. As Enugu State continues to prioritize security and peace, the partnership between the government and security agencies remains vital for sustained progress.
