Engr. Gerald Otiji, a distinguished engineer and business management consultant, convened his inaugural management meeting today as the newly appointed Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure in Enugu State. With a career spanning over twenty-eight years, both locally and internationally, Engr. Otiji brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Addressing his team at the meeting, Commissioner Otiji expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for their ongoing efforts in their respective roles. He underscored his commitment to realizing the administration's strategic objectives, particularly in the areas of road construction and maintenance, power development, and infrastructure enhancement, in line with the vision of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mba.
Central to his agenda, Commissioner Otiji unveiled an ambitious plan to deliver approximately 1250 kilometers of roads by May 2024, illustrating the administration's dedication to improving the state's transportation network. He also stressed the importance of maintaining service standards and upheld a resolute stance against subpar and low-quality outputs during his tenure.
"I call upon each of you to keep the Ministry at the forefront of your minds, as we usher in a transformative era," Commissioner Otiji emphasized, underlining his intention to achieve meaningful and far-reaching accomplishments in the realm of works and infrastructure.
In closing, Commissioner Otiji expressed his optimism about the support of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mba, in uplifting the state's infrastructure landscape. His commitment to a substantial overhaul promises to elevate Enugu State's status and bring its infrastructural facilities in line with modern standards.
Following Commissioner Otiji's address, the acting Permanent Secretary, Bar Princess Nnaji, extended a warm welcome on behalf of the management team, pledging their full cooperation to work collaboratively and attain the goals set forth by His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mba.
