WOMEN SUPPORT WOMEN COMMUNITY NETWORK (WOSCONE): ...Building Women for Development

The Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET) is a global women's group that aims to empower and support women in various aspects of their lives. Founded by Ambassador Mrs Amaka Judith Nweze JP and Mrs Valentina Enih, WOSCONET has its headquarters in Enugu, Nigeria, and is comprised of women-led civil society organizations. The network is committed to fostering social accountability and community development by uplifting women and girls and promoting their active participation in society.

WOSCONET's primary objective is to complement the efforts of governments and other organizations in promoting women's inclusion in governance, ensuring effective representation, and enhancing the delivery of quality services. By aligning its activities with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), WOSCONET seeks to contribute to the achievement of these global objectives.

One of the core values of WOSCONET is its organization, compassion, and passion for problem-solving. The network understands the significance of addressing societal challenges faced by women and takes a comprehensive approach to tackle these issues. WOSCONET recognizes the importance of focusing on individual women's needs, providing support, and advocating for their rights.

WOSCONET has successfully implemented several community-based programs and projects, which have made a significant impact on the lives of women and girls. During the 2023 general election in Nigeria, the network conducted voters' education and sensitization programs, empowering women to exercise their democratic rights and participate actively in the political process.

Empowering women is at the heart of WOSCONET's activities. The network organizes various programs and advocacy missions to promote women's empowerment and gender equality. These initiatives aim to equip women with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to enhance their socio-economic status and achieve their full potential.

In addition to empowering women, WOSCONET is dedicated to raising awareness about important issues such as menstrual hygiene. By providing education and support, the network aims to break the silence and stigmas surrounding menstruation, ensuring that women and girls have access to proper menstrual health management and sanitation facilities.

WOSCONET also extends its support to marginalized groups in society, including people living with disabilities. The network collaborates with relevant stakeholders to provide essential resources and assistance, such as distributing white canes for the blind on a regular basis. By addressing the specific needs of these individuals, WOSCONET promotes inclusivity and ensures that no one is left behind.

Recognizing the significance of youth in shaping the future, WOSCONET emphasizes mentorship and socio-economic development programs for young people. By nurturing their talents and providing guidance, the network equips the youth with the necessary skills to become leaders and change agents in their communities.

Healthcare awareness is another critical aspect of WOSCONET's work. The network conducts campaigns to educate women and their communities about various health issues, empowering them to make informed decisions and seek appropriate medical care.

WOSCONET focuses on promoting societal values through its girl child programs. By investing in the education, well-being, and empowerment of girls, the network aims to create a generation of confident and capable women who can contribute positively to society. WOSCONET carries out routine public engagement through series of Radio and TV Programmes.

The Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET) is a global women's group that actively promotes women's empowerment, gender equality, and community development. Through its comprehensive programs and projects, WOSCONET addresses various societal challenges faced by women and girls, with a particular emphasis on social accountability and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. By uplifting women, supporting marginalized groups, and investing in the youth, WOSCONET envisions a world where women have equal opportunities and can fully contribute to the progress of their communities.
