KA NWANYI JEE Extols Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, for Demonstrating Gender Sensitivity in his Recent Nomination of Commissioners

The Ka Nwanyi Jee, a prominent women's advocacy group known for their mission "Give Women a Chance," has expressed heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Barr. Peter Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, for his commitment to women's inclusion in his recent commissioners' nomination list. The list was presented to the Enugu State House of Assembly on Thursday, 27th July 2023, and showcases the Governor's dedication to promoting gender sensitivity in governance.

In a statement issued by the Director General of Ka Nwanyi Jee, Onovo Jennifer, and dated Friday, 28th of July 2023, the group commended Governor Peter Mbah for recognizing the importance of including women in his administration. The Director General stated, "Your Excellency, in a very special way, we, the members of Ka Nwanyi Jee Movement, are in one voice, commending you for seeing the need to include Mrs. Ngozi Eni, Ben Madueke Ugochi and Ada Chukwu in your recent commissioners' nominees list."

"expressed our deepest gratitude to Your Excellency for commencing your administration with a focus on women's inclusion, instilling hope in women across Enugu State. We also applaud Your Excellency's alignment with global initiatives such as the Beijing Declaration, a landmark agreement promoting women's rights and gender equality worldwide, which was agreed upon during the 4th World Conference on Women in 1995. Additionally, we acknowledged the significance of affirmative action, a program aimed at overcoming the present effects of past practices, policies, or barriers that hinder equal employment opportunities and promoting the full and fair participation of women and minorities" She concluded.

Onovo Jennifer emphasized the importance of women's roles in nation-building and praised Governor Mbah for continuing to appoint accomplished women, reflecting his commitment to gender representation in his administration.

Recall that Governor Peter Mbah's nomination of 15 individuals, including prominent figures and highly qualified women from various sectors, marks a significant step in reshaping Enugu State's administration and fostering progress and development.

The Ka Nwanyi Jee rose to prominence in 2022 during the run-up to the 2023 general elections. The group consists of young and brilliant women dedicated to promoting women's inclusion in politics and fighting against the marginalization of women in the political landscape of Nigeria.
