The governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah was today considered more investment on the aviation sector to play an important role in the growth of national and sub-national economies. This he considers to attract foreign direct investment, creates jobs, provides means of rapid transportation, and also facilitates international and local trade, as well as tourism.
As his administration contemplates the next phase of its expansion strategy to building the cargo terminal in partnership with the Federal government of Nigeria, the governor aptly considers to open up a window for the southeast businesses to blossom, and i am pleased to say here that the approach has received wide cheers from the civil society organization. Therefore, having tested and validated the governor's approach as the non-stop solution for the state and regional domestic aspirations.
Now, with this official visit by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to the governor in government house following the inspection by the state governor at the international wing of the Akanu Ibiam airport. In furtherance of aviation development, the Mbah led-administration has vowed to construct of the cargo terminal and upgrade the airport facilities in partnership with the Federal government of Nigeria.
Interestingly; A lot of people do not understand the step Mbah's administration has considered to undertake building the cargo terminal in line with his vision for multimodal transport system. These are technical details that can facilitate certain aspects of economic growth in the state in particular, southeast as a region and the country in general. Furthermore, it is expected that upon completion of the new cargo terminal, the airline will commence in full scale its foreign flights from Enugu to any parts of the world. The project will also attract foreign airlines. The administration also has plans underway to train Enugu youths in aeronautical engineering and other specialized fields.
