Enugu young leaders who enjoyed the youth-inclusive approach of the former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, have re-united to express their sincere gratitude for his mentorship, administration’s open-door policies, transparency and several opportunities given to young persons to participate in the political process.
While recounting their transformative experience with Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the young leaders made up of former political appointees and aides of the former Governor, testified that Ugwuanyi's administration did not only avail them the platform to harness their potentials and contribute to decision making process, but has also equipped them with leadership experience and knowledge that will enable them contribute to the economic and political development of Enugu State.
The group's official statement was contained in a press release make available to journalists in Enugu on Saturday.
Statement reads;
“Posterity will be kind to you Your Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. We are indeed grateful for the platform you gave to us to launch our leadership career, despite not having political godfathers that will speak or intercede on our behalf. The norm has been that Young persons are kept far away from the decision-making table, but Gov. Ugwuanyi chose the path of honour by appointing young persons and brought them into the system. So, the overall effect of this will be made manifest in a few years to come when these young persons would have attained their prime in politics and will take sound decisions on behalf of the led if perchance they find themselves in leadership positions owing to their early exposure to politics and Governance"
"We make bold to state that Governor Ugwuanyi did his best and we owe him our prayers in his future endeavors. For making Enugu state peaceful despite the very diverse political, social and economic interests, he shall also find peace"
The group finally concluded by calling on ndi Enugu to desist from calumny; making of false and defamatory statements to damage the reputation of the former Governor. They urged ndi Enugu to keep praying for him and also to support Barr. Peter Mbah’s administration for the overall good of ndi Enugu.
In demonstration of their sincere gratitude, the group has scheduled a visit to the former Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to present their appreciation gifts for the opportunities he gave them to develop their skills and to bid him farewell in his future endeavors.
