The true test of good governance is the degree to which it delivers on the promise of human rights: civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights of citizens, while Equity and justice in the other hand exists where everyone has opportunities to improve or maintain their well-being. This means that all members of society, especially the most vulnerable, are taken into consideration in policymaking, and no one feels alienated, disenfranchised or left behind.
It is on this premise that the Coalition for Justice, Equity and Good Governance In Enugu State (CJEGG) has reacted to the trending mischievous propaganda and falsehood orchestrated by Labour Party with the intention of misleading the general public on the outcome of the just concluded Enugu Gubernatorial Election.
The group's reaction was contained in a Communique read by the Spokesperson of CJEGG, Oscar Ugwoke PhD.
Communique reads;
"The Coalition For Justice, Equity And Good Governance in Enugu State reacts to the mischievous propaganda and falsehood of Labour Party in Enugu State."
"It is pertinent to know that elections are not war in the social media, especially war embedded with fake news and misleading contents, neither has such medium been used in reclaiming any mandate after an election result has been announced. Instead, it should be challenged in court"
"Therefore, Labour Party and it's cronies should stop heating the polity with their social media awashed misleading propaganda and falsehood."
"The social media hype by Labour Party in Enugu State is capable of misleading the people, trigger tension in our peace-loving Enugu State. Therefore, using media to cause tension in our dear state is not in the best interest of our people and such a person is not capable of being our leader we desire at a time like this in Enugu state."
"Chijioke Edeoga and his men are going petty over this issue; they are showing signs of desperation. Since they have gone to the tribunal, they should allow the law to take its course and not using media to outwith or armbend the direction of of justice."
"Edeoga who claims that he has been in politics for more than thirty years should exhibit character as one who has been in the political field for that long."
"Since he is already in court, we advice he should allow the process to run smoothly and not use the media to muscle the process of the tribunal."
"Once more, we are calling on the good people of Enugu State, no matter the party divide, to join hands together with Peter Mbah’s administration to make Enugu a destination for all the southerners and visitors alike."
"God bless you, and thank you!"
