The gentility of a tiger is not a sign of weakness. In the jungle, that the lion is master of stealth does not translate to fear. That is what the Igbo adage is affirming in those words.
At about 4pm on the March 18 governorship election in Enugu, Dr. Mbah had been overwhelmingly delivered as the governor elect by Ndi-Enugu. Simply called Olileanya Ndi-Enugu, Mbah, who was trust into the frontline of Enugu State's politics via the March 18, 2023 governorship election, is fast emerging the master of stealth as the strides of his politics and programs deep through the state, zonal and national scenes. But the fun is that his political opponents often fail to realize that stealthy strategic moves for the Owo born lawyer-turned politician.
Many easily mistake the slow pace of his speech - he is never in a hurry to drop his words, his gentle mien, and simple looks - as whose benign postures could easily be put out with a featherweight punch. Whether his amicable nature generally contributed to the lightning-speed penetration of his Tomorrow Is Here mantra across the length of Enugu State ahead of the 2023 election is something political analysts and theorists are yet to fully calibrate, but it is becoming certain that some natural affinities that are considered as off-cuts by some contenders have become firm parts of the robust stratagem that delivers the goods to Mbah, battle after battle.
At the state level, the challenges dared him firsthand; a state steep in a hellhole of local and international indebtedness, one owing more than a decade of pension arrears and arrears of gratuities; a state burdened by infrastructural decay; worst of out good cottage hospitals and pipe bone water; a state steep in the dunghill of filth and whose Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) offers no succour for its myriads of problems.
Surely, the task before Mbah's administration appears daunting but Dr. Mbah knew that noise making wouldn't solve the problem. The elders say the empty barrel makes the loudest noise. Stealthy stratagem, as Shakespeare would have it, is the way to go. And by stealthily stalking the challenges one after the other, the debonair lawyer, whose hallmark is using science, logic innovative data to solve problems bedeviling the state, has depleted the ranks of the challenges and given his people some level of comfort.
As the inauguration comes near in six days time, Mbah will launch salvos at the troubles that beleaguer the infrastructural decay and other critical sectors by declaring state of emergency on Enugu roads, put a stop to the issue of land grabbing and other uncultured attitudes of the government toward the people. And it will be expected of his administration to announce the implementation of the roadmap to accelerate development of Enugu State 2023-2027, which will encapsulates the four point service agenda, to wit, Security, Health, Education and Economic expansion through agribusiness value chain.
Again, silently and in the dead of the night of Sunday, May 28, 2023, the governor will declare an emergency on waste in the state to salvage the mountain of filth across the city of Enugu and other towns and within months, the city will start to wear a new looks. But old habits will die hard. The previous government had cultured the people in the act of dropping refuse on the road medians and strategic street corners. That is not God way of the Mbah government. The old habit would fight the new but with the persistent of the new environment under his administration the huge mountains of refuse will be subdued.
Infrastructure targeted at lifting the economy will kick starts from June 2023 and within months, despite the state stalling huge debt, positive results will start pouring in. The 10,000 kilometers of a proposed road by his administration which will provide direct inroad and opening of community revenues across the three senatorial zones will take off construction in record time. The Mbah government will redesign and develop Enugu state, it will definitely deliver on its campaign promises to build infrastructure that target the economy, which will progress at a great speed.
By implementing his administration's plan of creating an enabling environment; Mbah will enhance the ease of doing business and promote the state's comparative advantage in agriculture, agribusiness and solid minerals, it will not come as surprise that the state's Internally Generated Revenue will be on the rise under his foresight administration. Undoubtedly, Peter Peter Mbah's mandate has come to stay. And indeed,
