Why Unending Celebration Trails Peter Mbah's Victory

Since March 23 when Peter Ndubuisi Mbah was declared the winner of the governorship election held in Enugu State on 18th March, 2023, the people of Enugu State have been in celebration mood. They are happy Peter, who stood outstandingly with his inimitable manifesto, is elected the governor. Following the delay in announcing the winner of the election as INEC reviewed the results of Nsukka and Nkanu East local governments, Ndi Enugu had emptied into WAEC Junction, Independence Layout Enugu, asking INEC to declare Peter Mbah for whom they massively voted the winner. When Peter was declared, shouts of joy, ululations and beating of drums and music reached frenzy pitch, rent the clouds and reverberated into the the night. Knockouts also rent the air in a staccato of pleasant cocaphony of the din announcing the victory of the people's choice.

When the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice and so said the holy book. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's social charter with Ndi Enugu as explained across the 68 development centres in Enugu State paid off a great deal. Ndi Enugu saw in Peter what they did not see in any of the candidates contesting the election. Peter came with the good news of unprecedented economic growth proposition with clear blueprints. The people bought into his message and were quite eager to elect him the governor who would take over from Governor Ugwuanyi and not only consolidate Ugwuanyi's deliverables but also build exponentially upon them.

Peter Mbah's natural mien, grace, the aura of excellence, natural wisdom and knowledge in addition to his antecedents of disruptive innovation in the private sector positioned him in the political consciousness of the Enugu citizenry. It became natural to associate Peter with the throne of governance, given his proven capacity, character and competence. So Ndi Enugu looked forward to his emergence and since he did emerge, it has been celebration galore.

Even up until now, the people of Enugu State are still celebrating the emergence of the philosopher king in the order of Alexander the Great. There is this knowing that something great has happened in Enugu State. Peter has come to make life better for Ndi Enugu. The people know it and that is why they rejoice endlessly.Their consciousness is aglow with the good omen of the emergence of this young transcedental leader, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

Who would not rejoice? Who would not appreciate good things? (Onwe onye iheoma na-aso nso? Ask the Oriental Brothers). But for the selfish overambitious and their minions, everybody in Enugu is happy. The Obidients are also rejoicing, knowing full well that the  competence of which Peter Obi is enamoured has come to reign in Enugu State. Peter Obi equally celebrated Mbah's emergence and had cheerfully given him a warm reception during the burial of Onyechi Ikpeazu's daughter at Onitsha. Avalanche of congratulatory messages are pouring in from far and wide. Ndi Enugu in Diaspora have been sending in goodwill messages to Peter, thanking God for the good He has done Enugu State by the victory of Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as the  governor-elect.

But for desperate overambition and selfishness, even the opposition knows non of them is like Peter. Even those going to court know they are not being sincere with themselves. They know that Peter Mbah is unrivalled, but they won't concede victory, as though the courts would manufacture results for them. A friend had called me (Eze Nwamadi) the other day to congratulate me over Mbah's victory. He told me that he supported Labour in the governorship because of Peter Obi, but now regretted doing so after he has watched Peter Mbah on Arise Television. He said he regretted ever supporting Chijioke Edeoga out of emotions; whereas, Edeoga is clueless. He said he was miffed watching Edeoga on an interview with the same Arise Television reading from a prepared text when Peter spoke extempore for hours, navigating the knotty labyrinths of governance and the economy with ease and equanimity. He told me that Edeoga was not a governorship material at all. He thanked God Peter won despite the evil manipulation of results of the election at Nsukka and Isi-Uzo local governments. He said he was privy to the massive rigging, but that he was  happy the rigging did not alter Peter Mbah's victory.

Should you hang out to joints within the state, you would hear the people of Enugu State express their acceptance of Peter Mbah. They are confident he will perform. Ndi Enugu are not interested in Edeoga's suit at the tribunal which they dismissed as unnecessary distraction. They are eager for Peter to be sworn in and hit the ground running. Peter has reiterated his determination to implement his manifesto, saying that in 180 days water will flow in every compound in Enugu metropolis, which has had the age-long water challenge as a result of coal deposit in the state.

Ndi Enugu now luxuriate in unending balm of Peter's enthronement because so far as Peter Mbah is their governor, they need not look far for prosperity. What they seek in Sokoto is already in their shokoto. Of a truth, tomorrow is here.
