As an essential ingredient of democracy, peaceful demonstration has always served as an avenue for a group of individuals to rightfully express dissatisfaction through a statement, gathering or relative action as against resorting to the use of violence. It is a catalyst for social change and an opportunity for citizen participation in a pluralistic democracy. It enable individuals and groups to share their views and interests, express dissent and make demands of government. It is an inalienable right of citizens in a democratic society.
It is in view of the above that Nigerians living in the United States of America (USA) have scheduled to assemble at Atlanta, Georgia, to demonstrate their dissatisfaction and frustration about the manner in which the process of the 25th February presidential election was conducted in Nigeria and the shortcomings of technical elements that were used for the first time in a presidential election to manipulate and disenfranchise Nigerians in a very shabby way. A scenario international election observers described that it failed short of standard of electoral process in a democratic dispensation.
