Nsukka Cultural Zone did not and will never endorse Edoga. As a Zone, Nsukka people have a reputation for standing on the part of justice and fairness. Let nobody mistake a grasping, greedy, avaricious cabal, who are motivated by nothing but self-interest, let nobody mistake them for Nsukka Zone.
No Nsukka man will love Chijioke Edoga more than Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, but when it comes to authority positions, especially in Enugu State, where zoning is a very serious matter, it is not about emotion, it is about logic.
The same reason His Excellency Sullivan Chime could not give guber ticket to Eugene Odo, who is from Ojobogene that is the same reason Ugwuanyi would not be able to give ticket to Chijioke Edoga without fracturing the State into warring groups. Sullivan Chime loved Eugene Odo for holding ground for him during his sick leave, but he also knew that Enugu people still see an Ojobogene man as ‘Udi’ man.
Ugwuanyi could not have ceded the guber ticket to Edoga without risking the ire of the other two Senatorial Zones. And the reason is that Edoga, an Isi-Uzo man, is still considered an Nsukka man in ‘diaspora’.
At any rate, when the battle for the guber ticket was on-going, how many of our people, who support Edoga today lined behind Ugwuanyi to lend him support? Many of them queued behind Ike Ekweremadu, and Ugwuanyi was practically fighting g alone.
Nsukka people have made up their minds that justice should prevail and that Nkanu East should produce the next Governor. All the propaganda about Nsukka people or Ugwuanyi endorsing Edoga is a blatant lie orchestrated to mislead people from other Zones. Such lies should be disregarded as a figment of the imagination of some disgruntled mischief-makers.
