Enugu state was among the first states that received the full dose of Fulani herders venom on its innocent rural populace in the dead of the night resulting in the massacre of defenseless aged men, women, children, pregnant and breast feeding mother's with their children. It was a gory sight that unfortunately announced the presidential status of cows as the only national pride found in Naira notes and deserving of honor or death for dishonor
The governor of ENUGU STATE made countless efforts to prevent the onslaught through the presidency but his plea for peaceful settlement fell on deaf ears as Fulani kit and kin in the presidency were determined to unleash venom to announce the presidential preference for COWS to human lives.
Unfortunately, Nimbo community in UZOUWANI LGA, a predominantly agricultural community was attacked by mercenaries imported by herders as the community resisted the wicked acts of grazing animals on farmlands. The carnage provoked bitter emotions that would had led to brutal attacks on Hausa settlements if not for wisdom and peace advocacy of Gov Ugwuanyi to calm frayed nerves and also announce that Hausa people in Enugu are not herders and do live among people doing their business not in our forests
To forestall further attacks, and provide proactive security since the Fulani occupy top most positions in the security apparatus of the nation, gov ugwuanyi went to work to retool by an act of the state house of assembly, the ENUGU STATE VIGILANTE SERVICE which now includes NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH, AGRO RANGERS, AND FOREST GUARDS
The primary purpose of government as defined in our constitution is security and welfare. This is what the Fulani led presidency refused to accept as such Gov Ugwuanyi spent billions to acquire new Hilux vehicles for police, army, civil defense, and sienna buses, motorcycles and bicycles for forest guards, neighborhood watch and vigilante services. Every community was asked to produce gallant able bodied youths for training and employment for homeland security. Over 5000 youths were enrolled across communities and LGA and cities and we're kitted with new licensed pump action firearms, security torchlights, and security attire. These men are on monthly salary and provide FIRST line of defense in many communities without police presence. The LGA chairmen are chief security officers of their councils while councilors oversee at ward levels. Upon request, the LGA CHAIRMEN purchase ammunition and forearms to increase security presence in vulnerable areas
Because of this proactive security arrangements by Gov Ugwuanyi, Enugu is adjudged the most peaceful in South East and the fastest growing population in residential and commercial housing development in southern NIGERIA. Police incidence database shows that Enugu has the least violent crime record in South East. Kudos to gov Ugwuanyi
Lately, the EHAMUFU community in Isi Uzor LGA faced an attack by Fulani herdsmen. After investigation, it was observed that the herders will rather die than exit the rich agricultural community due to land resources that produce greenery for their livestock all year round
It is on record that the NIGERIA security has never made any arrests of rampaging herders talk more prosecute them for their evil acts. It is at the discretion of the LGA chairman to request approval from his council members to acquire more firearms to increase security against further attacks
It is dangerous to play politics with security by disarming or removing firearms procured to secure vulnerable people against Fulani attacks
Fulani herdsmen are known world over for their long term planning for massacre of communities that resisted their use of farm lands for grazing
No record exist in Enugu of use of Enugu State Vigilante services to harass, intimidate or infringe on the right of Enugu people. Gov Ugwuanyi is truly a peace loving leader.
Unlike his contemporaries, he is known to absorb insults that mere citizens cannot. This is credit to him. He never sponsored campaigns of calumny against his worst critics talk more sponsored violence
Keep Enugu safe. Keep politics out of security of Enugu. Fulani people are a violent tribe and take pleasure in such if unrestrained
Gov Ugwuanyi is the only Governor in the south east with no record of violence against the political opponents many of whom go overboard in formulating wicked lies capable of causing breach of peace as they cross lines of freedom of speech to inciting unrest with inflammatory words and hate speech.
