Details of the attack were still sketchy as at press time but out source said the attack took place near the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus.
A viral video making the rounds shows two policemen in uniform lying in pools of blood. One lay on the ground while the other lay inside the gutter.
Yet to be identified armed men has reportedly gunned down two police officers in a security checkpoint as the dreaded unknown gunmen resume onslaught on security men in Enugu State.
The incident happened this Sunday afternoon at a police roadblock adjacent to the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, UNEC.
An eyewitness said the gunmen opened fire on the police officers on stop and search duty, taking them by surprise.
Two of the officers according to a video circulating on social media were seen in the pool of their own blood.
The Enugu State Police Command was yet to make a statement on the incident.
