2023 ELECTIONS: WINNING THE WAR, BUT LOSING THE BATTLE

Elections in Nigeria since the first republic is full scale war. It involves war of words, and  war of ideologies during the electioneering campaigns which most times culminate in ballot box war by street urchins hired to snatch ballot boxes, and thumb print ballot papers with drug disfigured, dirty thumbs. After the election, a long period of legal war commence which ends at the highest court at huge costs on human and material resources. Some election court cases last for 3 years and serve as a major distraction to the programmes of the government. At the end, under performance reigns and the state and it's citizens receive nothing but complaints of wasted years and wasted public resources.

Winning election is war but winning the hearts and minds of people in the opposition after the election is a battle that most governments lose woefully. This creates a bitter winner, bitter loser syndrome. Bola Ahmed TINUBU was declared the winner in the election war but the battle to be won is the soul of Nigeria. The many young people who make up the OBIDIENT PROJECT have refused to accept HE BOLA TINUBU as president elect. Worse, HE Tinubu and his followers in their  vituperations asked the aggrieved to go to court instead of seeking for a round table dialogue. The worse is that the cronies of Tinubu profiled the Igbo tribe of his opponent as an enemy tribe. A rift between IGBO AND YORUBA has been created. The seed of bitterness has been sowed. Without Unity, Peace and Love, the battle for ONE NIGERIA is at danger of deteriorating to fulfill the 2015 predictions of foreign powers. GEJ said election was not war and not worth the blood of any Nigerian. He saved Nigeria and conceded defeat even with obvious election malpractices and  irregularities.

Enugu state, the heart land of Igbo nation has just concluded an electioneering war and voting war, which almost led to physical war at INEC headquarters between two groups. Two groups mobilized and were ready for the worst. INEC didn't help matters. INEC became a judge in its own case. INEC shot itself on the foot as it overstepped it's stipulated guidelines. The law has room for elections petitions and tribunal and INEC responsibility stops at declaring collated results. The election tribunal handles petitions concerning the outcome of elections. It is only through election tribunal that collated results can be accepted or rejected. INEC can only function as witness in an election petition hearing but not as a judge.

Sadly, the battle between Labor party and the PDP is deeper than election. It has NSUKKA and NKANU coloration on one side and age long, CASTE SYSTEM in Nkanu on another side. The Nkanu ODENIGBO people claim that the killing and charring of the body of late Bar Oyibo Chukwu was a show of long held hatred and intolerance for them by the Nkanu AMADU people. The killing of Bar Oyibo Chukwu and the former LGA chairman of OJI RIVER was the hand work of Satan in human skin. Police investigators must not rest until the people behind the dastardly acts are exposed . Sir KEVIN CHUKWU received sympathy votes but his election will not erase the horror of the brutal murder and charring of his elder brother, Bar Oyibo Chukwu. Bar Lucky Chukwu, the immediate younger brother of the deceased and his political anchor may not recover from the trauma and bitterness the untimely demise of his elder brother caused him. Life will never be the same for the widow and the fatherless children of late Bar Oyibo Chukwu. Worse the voting pattern and political trajectory of Nkanu land has changed to favor caste instead of competence, character and capacity.

A man, senator elect, Okey Ezea told the youths of Nsukka that election was War, a Do or Die affair. Unconfirmed social media handles also accused a major LP stakeholder of saying it is war not between LP faithfuls and PDP faithfuls but between Nkanu people and Nsukka. Those words sank deep and is still resonating in discordant tunes in the hearts and minds of NDI ENUGU

Just as Igbo and Yoruba people in Lagos are at cross roads because of the words and actions of desperate politicians who were fighting for the criminal, stranglehold of the economy of Lagos, but his behind ethnic sentiments against the Igbo in Lagos, worse  battle line has been drawn in Enugu  between NSUKKA AND NKANU NATION on the one side and NKANU ODENIGBO AND NKANU AMADU at another side. Enugu our beloved state is in trouble.

My father Apostle ON Godwin preached and practiced love among the rural people of Nkanu and inside the church, the people became one in Christ Jesus. No freeborn, No slave, No jew, no gentile but one body of Christ. Unfortunately, for sake of political correctness, the church maintained ungodly silence as politicians whipped up evil sentiments to sow deep seeds of bitterness amongst NDI Enugu

Enugu is the ancestral home land of the WAWA people. WAWA means capital NO to evil. Enugu was changed from the coal city to the HOME FOR ALL because of the peace, love ,unity and welcoming spirit of the people.

Election war has been won, can political actors win the battle for the soul of Enugu? No reasonable development can take place in an atmosphere of distrust, disunity, hate and intolerance. Without deliberate, well orchestrated efforts towards peace building, ENUGU is in for a long battle of hate and intolerance

Enugu needs the mercy of God now more than ever. Buhari won elections and said it was a 97 vs 5 percent sharing ratio. He implemented such, did it help Nigeria? No. Nigeria became likened to a pariah state . There may be tribal, religious sentiments during elections but afterwards a winner of elections need MAGNIMITY IN VICTORY TO LEAD A PEOPLE WELL

PRAY FOR ENUGU. PRAY FOR NIGERIA. ALL IS NOT WELL
