The apex umbrella body of all Anambra Women around the world, otherwise known as Anambra women general assembly (AWGA) Enugu chapter, held it's first quarterly meeting on Sunday, 19th of February 2023 in Enugu with a thanksgiving and rededication service at Chapel of His Resurrection, ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane.
AWGA established with the primary aim of promoting unity and peace amongst all Nigerians despite differences in tribe, ethnicity, religion or state of origin declared their unwavering support for His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for Senate, Enugu North Senatorial District and the PDP gubernatorial flagbearer of Enugu State, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
Recall that the Global President, Anambra Women General Assembly, Amb. Mrs. Amaka Nweke JP had earlier stated the group's resolve to openly support any candidate whose administration will bring positive changes in the state. According to Amb Mrs Amaka Nweke in her statement late last year, the members of AWGA are women who are of Anambra origin, residing in Enugu, or citizens of Enugu State by virtue of marriage and united by ideology and vision to impact in our immediate environment by liasing with well meaning citizens, other organisations and government bodies.
While responding to fountainCare News during the meeting, the Founder and Global President of AWGA, Amb. Mrs. Amaka Nweke JP enjoined Nigerians especially Anambra women in all the 36 states of Nigeria and FCT Abuja, to go out on Saturday and on March 11 and vote according to their conscience.
"Support and vote for credible candidates across the nation irrespective of party lines if you want to see a new Nigeria of our dreams. All we need is to get the best hands and not where the person comes from. Our nation deserves the best hands to handle its affairs and all we hope to get is the very best, no matter where anyone come from.”
“The Executive Governor of Enugu state is our father. He has stood behind us from the inception and gave us voice in the state, being where AWGA was conceptualized and birthed. Moreover, His Excellency is an all inclusive leader and has consistently operated an open door policy. He is a leader with a very large and benevolent heart. His peaceful disposition restored peace and progress in Enugu state. He has also been gender friendly and has appointed many women and non indigenes into the state service.”
Speaking on the group's stance regarding Enugu Gubernatorial Election, she posited “in the same vein, we also want to assure Barr. Peter Mbah that AWGA’s votes are 100 per cent for him. Peter Mbah from our assessment is competent, credible, strong willed and well disposed to run an all inclusive government also. Moreover we want to align with the zoning arrangement of the people of Enugu state that has encouraged peace, equity and fairness.”
In a Communique Released by the group and presented by the Enugu State Coordinator of Anambra Women General Assembly (AWGA) Lady Mrs Patience Ndidiamaka Ikeobi which caught the attention of the general public was endorsement of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah on their ambition for the seat of Enugu North Senatorial Zone and the Governorship position of the state respectively, which is largely hinged on Governor Ugwuanyi’s peaceful disposition, landmark achievements and Barr Mbah’s innovative potentials to move Enugu forward.
              The Communique Reads;

"Good afternoon distinguished ladies and gentlemen. Please permit me to stand on the already established protocol.

Let me begin by reiterating what our leader, Amb. Mrs Amaka Nweke JP had earlier stated concerning the position of Anambra Women General Assembly (AWGA) on the forthcoming general elections scheduled to hold on February 25th and March 11th 2023 respectively. I say it loud and clear that all our votes will go to His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi to represent Enugu North Senatorial Zone at the Federal state and Barr. Peter Mbah for Governor of Enugu State.

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu State is our father. He has stood behind us from inception, and gave us voice in the state being where AWGA was conceptualized and birthed. Moreover, His Excellency is an all inclusive leader and has consistently operated an open door policy. He is a leader with a very large and benevolent heart. His peaceful disposition restored peace and progress in Enugu State. He has also been gender friendly and has appointed many women and non indigenes into the state service. A lot of non indigenes have also benefited from His Excellency's state sponsored trainings, including seminars and workshops for human capacity development. In fact, His Excellency has continued to show us love and we do not take his generous heart for granted.

His Excellency has been has been tested and proven to be eminently qualified and capable of giving quality representation at the Senate to the good people of Enugu North Senatorial Zone. We hereby want to assure His Excellency that AWGA is solidly behind him come rain come shine and on this note we Endorse him.

In the same vein, we also want to assure Barr. Peter Mbah that AWGA votes are 100% for him. Apart from being the annointed candidate of our father, His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, Barr Peter Mbah from our assessment is competent, credible, strong willed and well disposed to run an all inclusive government also. Moreover, we want to align with the zoning arrangements of the people of Enugu State that has encouraged peace, equity and fairness in the handling of zoning governorship position.

We the Anambra Women General Assembly have complete faith in Barr. Peter Mbah to continue the good work began by His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi. We are confident that he will include us, our husbands, sons and daughters in his administration and introduce policies that would eradicate every form of marginalization that has continued to prevent non indigenes of Enugu State from contesting for elective positions and other key positions in the state Judiciary. (Position of Judges). With his vast experience in business, Barr. Peter Mbah will surely transform Enugu State to number one investment destination in the nation.

Furthermore, he has assured us that he will run with these four principles: Continuity, Collaboration and Inclusion, Transparency, Accessibility and Accountability. These are the bedrocks of good governance.

May I at this junction convey our thanks to Barr. Peter Mbah for employing our very own sister, Janefrances Chinwe Iwuchukwu, a content writer, social media handler and video editor, despite the fact that she was the only Anambra lady standing when he recently employed workers in his organization. Today our sister is working and being well taken care of by Barr. Peter Mbah. We owe him our prayers and our votes, come 11th March, 2023.

God bless AWGA, God bless Enugu State, God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you for listening"
