As the 2023 general elections draw closer, the people of Enugu North Senatorial zone comprising of six most populated local government areas in the Enugu State namely- Udenu, Uzo-Uwani, Igbo-Etiti, Igbo-Eze South, Igbo Eze North and Nsukka, will today at the Nsukka ultra modern Township Stadium constructed by Governor Ugwuanyi reaffirm their commitment, support and loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) by massively endorsing all the PDP candidates from the zone and the party's governorship and presidential candidates, Bar. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The mega endorsement rally tagged "Oganiru Ndi Nsukka Na Ime Enugu State is for peace, cooperation, betterment and secured political growth and development of Enugu North Senatorial zone in Enugu State politics and Nigeria in general.
Expectedly, today's event will not only be eventful, it will be memorable and remarkable. This is because the Enugu North people know, believe and agree that there is no better alternative to the PDP.
That is why after weighing the political options and permutations before them ahead of the 2023 general elections, the people of Enugu North zone have decided to stick with the PDP. It is a case of the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know.
Besides, since 1999, the people of Enugu North Senatorial zone have witnessed and enjoyed democracy dividends provided by the successive PDP-led governments in Enugu state.
There is no denial of this obvious fact, considering that the basic infrastructure and enabling environment provided by the PDP-led government in the zone are staring at the people's faces.
The quantum of the PDP-led governments' democracy dividends in Enugu North Senatorial zone has increased rapidly in the last seven years plus of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi's administration.
Just a day before yesterday, a specialised University, first of it's kind in the entire Southeast region and fifth in the country that was conceived and completed was commissioned for academic programmes.
The Opi/Nsukka road which was impassable and a shame to Nsukka town before Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi became Governor was dualised by Governor Ugwuanyi's administration with street and traffic lights that adorns it.
Almost all the internal roads in Nsukka town has been given a facelift, a development that has attracted investors and added value to properties and lives in the town unlike before.
The list of the PDP-led governments' giant strides in Enugu State and Enugu North Senatorial zone in particular is endless and uncountable, but for the want of space and time, I will stop here.
It is undeniable and factual that those who are hiding under phantom Nsukka interest or agenda that is purely selfish to oppose, malign and fight PDP-led government in Enugu state and Governor Ugwuanyi are greatest benefactors of the PDP led government's largesse and democracy dividends.
It is not in doubt that they turned volteface immediately they failed to have thier way during the PDP primaries. It is clear that if they had their way in the PDP by securing tickets for their preferred aspirants, they would have remained in PDP and continued to speak good of Governor Ugwuanyi and his party.
While it is their constitutional right to decide where to pitch tenth politically, they should not do so by destroying the virtues and peaceful co-existence of Enugu North Senatorial zone people and Enugu state in general.
They should know that there is limit to political desperation, campaign of calumny and character assasination in Enugu North Senatorial zone in the name of partisan politics. Politics and elections will come and go. Winners and losers will emerge and the people will continue with their lives as Enugu North Senatorial zone people.
It is a thing of joy and pride that Governor Ugwuanyi, a great and illustrious son of Enugu North Senatorial zone has in the past seven years plus worked, stood and promoted peace, security and equity in the state in the face of growing insecurity across the country of which Enugu has been peaceful and calm.
The people of Enugu State and Enugu North Senatorial zone in particular have a great leader and pacifist per excellence in Governor Ugwuanyi.
Governor Ugwuanyi and his party deserve the total support of the good people of Enugu state most especially the people of Enugu North Senatorial zone ahead of the 2023 elections having touched their lives positively. The people of Enugu North zone's mega endorsement rally for PDP candidates from top to bottom today is a reciprocation of PDP-led governments' remarkable achievements in the zone especially under Governor Ugwuanyi's administration.
