Never in the history of Enugu state have we had this exodus endorsement cross all party lines for a gubernatorial candidate. Dr. Peter Mbah had all received every necessary endorsement needed to win the governorship election in Enugu. Since 1999, Enugu state has been dominated by the PDP; it has been the ruling party from the least office to the highest office. You could not aspire to any office and hope to succeed if you were not a member of this acclaimed "great party - the umbrella.
We have had our illustrious sons like Dr. Sen Chimaroke Nnamani, Barr Sullivan I. Chime, and Rt. Hon Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, all emerging as number one citizen of Enugu state at various times under the Peoples Democratic Party. Needless to point out that each of them ruled our dear state in accordance with the maximum provisions of the constitution which is two tenures each. You can gladly say Ndi-Enugu were in love with the umbrella. Yes, perhaps because of the constant development in the state or could it be because of the forbearers who piloted the affairs of the state under the PDP government.
No sooner than later, the party - PDP, became so business of some persons who operated from Abuja, became oppressive and unbearable for the good people of the state. It became a party for the exclusive few who hijacked the whole system for their selfish interests unknown to them it wouldn't go their way all the time. It became so horrible that for anyone to be admitted into the party hierarchy will be based on how many billions you can offer. The educated class was chased away from the party. Seasoned technocrats and administrative genius were all denied access to the party. This gave rise to disaffection and as such, some great sons of the land began hatching plans on how to reposition the party and take it back from these oligarchies that saw PDP as their exclusive property.
Our own who is highly respected in the public-private sector; a major player in Enugu state political arena, took the challenge and confronted these oligarchies and brought the party back to the people. He is fondly addressed by friends and well wishers as "Olileanya Ndi-Enugu"; he is simply exceptional in Enugu state politics. Although he was the Chief of Staff as well as Commissioner For Finance of the state who distinguished himself genuinely in the service of the state. Fortunately enough, he is the next in line to the lion building, a grassroot politician, a friend to the common people. Dr. Mbah who placed his foot on the political paddle and did everything possible to enable PDP to conveniently accelerate pass other political parties, this gave rise to monumental achievements of the party in the state.
Our prayers are with Dr. Mbah that the good Lord will continue to be his sources of light and strength, he will fear no one; the Lord will protect him from all dangers. Assuredly, his victory is eminent as we approach the elections in few weeks time. Indeed, Tomorrow Is Here.
