The failure of many leaders across the globe can readily be attributed to lack of political will to pursue long term benefits over short term goals. Situated well, to succeed a leader must give up short-term gains for long-term benefits. It then follows that short - term gain is part of the old normal while long - term gain is a new order.
In contemplating his "disruptive innovation" which by all ramifications evidences a paradigm shift, Dr. Mbah has shown clearly that he is a leader that will not just do things that will bring about some good short-term gains but lay huge emphasis on doing things that will bring about some better long-term benefits. That is the point when he talks about sustainable development. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Pursuing strategic plans that will bring about long term- benefits can be a tough call, because it comes as a radical departure from what the people want. The people are congenitally conservative, preferring to run along with the status quo instead of assimilating a dismantling of the basic frays. But Dr Mbah obviously understands that history as a backdrop is an ideological battle between those who want to change societal status quos and those who want them to remain simply because it benefits them. A clear reading of his manifesto: a statement of purpose presents a lucid picture of what would majorly constitute the thrust of his incoming administration. Like I said, he knows it is going to be a tough call because, we have become used to the easier way of responding to a short-term priority or pressure... cutting corners and micro managing a situation that calls for macro solutions. But he is unrelenting in pushing through his model and happily the people are buying into it.
To therefore mainstream "disruptive innovation" into governance dynamics as he has enunciated in his manifesto takes guts to do. Of course, it takes political will to defer a short-term priority for a long-term objective. Dr. Mbah comes handy as a man of will and steel. His Pinacle Oil & Gas success story is a study in strength of character, political will, decisiveness, integrity and rustic energy to alter an existing status quo.
Enugu people must get ready to strategically fit into a new order. It is heartwarming today that despite all his failings, Buhari was bitten by the bug of "disruptive innovation". The current disruption in the electoral law and processes of election is a bold attempt to link Nigeria with the rest of the world in matters of the needed integrity in selection of leaders. And Nigerians are already celebrating the innovation.
It is on the plank of the mass appeal of the disruption in our electoral process that I am convinced that Dr. Mbah will have a smooth sail in Enugu State, after all, the world is in for an agreement that the old order is failing with rapidity. Civilization is shifting grounds for better ideas. Even the Roman Catholic Church known for its orthodoxy has bought into the dynamics of Change and modification in its many flanks.
Enugu State needs a man of Dr Mbah's pedigree and expertise, sagacity and profound voluptuous appetite for doing the right things for the betterment of the lives of Enugu citizens. He comes with a change mantra; not the type APC advocated for in 2015, which beyond reasonable doubts was paying a mere lip-service to something very important. His change mantra is not such that creates problems while pretending to be solving problems. His is a well thought out and methodic layout of addressing the root causes of our present challenges rather than addressing the challenges...
