It started with the silence of the national assembly as the federal govt ran it's affairs for 6 months without constituting the federal council. This emboldened the federal government to launch a scheme for provocative betrayal of the principles of federal character hence the lopsided appointment in favor of Islam and Fulani. The entire south east was excluded in the scheme of things, yet it is the region that contributes the most by its small and medium scale businesses to value added taxes.
The insecurity challenge took another dimension. Herdsmen became "Throats Men" as they went through communities snuffling lives out of rural farmers.
Food prices went berserk as a visit to farms for harvest amounted to a trip to hell. You either allow ur harvest to be eaten by herds or you have your head lost to VIP citizens of Nig called Fulani herdsmen.
The federal govt introduced a new insecurity slogan, THE FULANI BANDITS. The northern govs wined and dined with these new CRIMINAL OVERLORDS and had deals with them. They had prisoner exchange deals with huge cash gifts which they turned in to buy more sophisticated firearms. .They left the withered poor citizens of states in the north to attack federal high ways , raking in billions. Lately they now attack trains and they make govts to pay huge sums. Surprisingly, the hostage negotiator is now a suspect.
The cost implications of insecurity to govt and national unity, is unimaginable. In the southeast, splinter groups of BIAFRA SEPARATISTS give orders and kill anyone that violates such. Businesses in the south east suffer untold nightmares. Traditional weddings and even burials are done via zoom . What a shame.
The national assembly approved a borrowing spree for the federal government, yet they seldom seek justification for each borrowing.
At Abuja, Nigerians saw the monetization of the major political parties primaries. The highest bidder in dollars got the highest votes cast. The presidential primaries set the records as the national delegates cashed out in dollars. Huge sums.
A new structureless political party emerged, driven by ideals for a new NIGERIA by Peter Obi. The main stream parties waved it off but the Peter Obi phenomenon grew larger than life each passing day. It is now a movement larger than its founder.
A new Nigeria must be birthed , the people cry. Yet this is the first time in Nigeria's political history that Nigerians are following a presidential candidate at their own cost- NO SHISHI POLITICAL IDEOLOGY. But, will those who are strangle holders of Nigeria who milk the nation at the expense of the citizenry allow a NEW NIGERIA to emerge? They are strategizing. They are desperate. They are tireless.
Today, people are betraying their loyalty to their political parties to follow presidential candidate of their choice. Five governors from the south refuse to support the presidential candidate of their party, yet non has been suspended by the party for anti party activities. Is political party still supreme?
The northern christians who have faced the worst onslaught of islamists disagree with a MUSLIM/MUSLIM candidacy. The southern politicians say the VP has a case to answer since the dreaded Christmas bomber, Kabiru Sokoto was found in the lodge of a governor. Medical experts claim a candidate has health challenges. Legal experts say he also may have a case to answer in a forfeiture judgement in the USA
Former President OBJ said a presidential candidate has moral burdens and compromised by corruption. Christians say he didn't lend his voice to condemn killing of a Christian girl in the north.
