The university which will train medical professionals and engineers of different fields will be the first of its kind East of the Niger. Happy to note that admission has just been opened for qualified candidates and they are already trooping to the school in search of academic opportunities. There is no doubt that the school will boost high skilled manpower training in Enugu State and environs in addition to health care delivery services of tertiary magnitude. Apart from the educational opportunities inherent in such a monumental project, rapid development of the host communities are assured with mass influx of people from all walks of life.
Aparrently, Ugwuanyi has finally made a bold statement with this feat which many did not initially believe would materialise in the life of his administration. SUMAS will go down in history as the greatest government investment in the entire Nsukka Zone since the creation of the present Enugu State. In short, this is a signature project in all ramiffications with a potential to impacting all inclusive development on the host communities. It has the capacity to improving and activating the economy of the host communities and by extension, the entire Enugu State.
Most importantly also, the children of nobody usually denied admission to study some privileged medical courses in bigger universities will now have the opportunity to pursue their dreams through the platform. It shows that Ugwuanyi's government is indeed the government of the poor and the less privileged. I never believed such a daunting target could be achieved within a short time frame until I went there on a fact finding mission last week and met a near functioning system where young admission seekers were being attended to by some officials of the institution. Honestly, I was quite impressed by the activities going on there and that is a clear manifestation of the reality of the school which many were sceptical about its completion at inception.
In summary, I am pleased to express satisfaction with the development and the realization of this lofty project in the life of Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi's administration. This is indeed one achievement too many which has silenced naysayers within the system who had wished it never saw the light of the day. Ugwuanyi has by this singular feat proven that the interest of his people is utmost in his mind. I believe Nsukka people will forever remain grateful to him for seeking to wipe away their underdevelopment tears through such an all inclusive approach as SUMAS, Igbo-Eno.
