Who Are We?
Federal Coorperative College Oji-River, Enugu State is an ND/HND awarding Tertiary Institution. It's is one of the three of it kind strategically located to serve the state of the South_Easth and South_South geographically zone. The other two are at Ibadan and Kaduna.
Established in 1976 to offer professional training to cooperative and non-cooperative staffs of both government and private sector. It could not achieve it's goal so to say.
Poor funding, negligence, little or no commitment put the college under the canopy of thick shade until it was open to offer National Diploma and Higher National Diploma to Iñterested people.
This important step by the then management of the school started this journey of a thousand mile attracting people's attention and iñterest, and slowly the institution started forming a path and making big move and important steps.
But something is still hindering this smooth movement, the college is still mono in native as only Coorperative Economics and Management was offered, though to HND level. This still limit what can be offered from what is demanded.
Another management team took over and introduce two new course, Banking/Finance and computer science, a good step in the right direction , the impact was felt but the magnitude of it's quake was still not enough.

When food is served is the case of Federal Coorperative College Oji-River (FCCO). The campus environment is not benefiting of an institution of higher learning, building structures were either outdated or grossly Insufficient, infact the school was looking like glorified secondary school. Academic excellence strive through for those who had the courage to enroll against all odds.
What Changed
A popular biblical saying has it that , prophet is not recognize in his own country. Even people country-River neglect the school, but a few, not just because they believe it will offer so little but also that it lack huge observatory standard.
Behold, a new management came on board in 2016 and vow to rewrite history and change the narrative. It started by pursing the introduction of new courses to give options and opportunities to persons who has the hunger to further his/ her education dreams.
A massive infrastructural development was taken and the results today is unbelievable.
People who were not in the college few years ago got there speachles and astonished.
From the Enugu-Onitsha road, a 2km asphalt road was constructed that led to the school main campus. The internal landscaping was inter-connected with asphalt road in a link of beauty.
There are burst of building blocks, including the new Admin blocks ( known as the white house) a jaw dropping edifics numerous hostel blocks. Classroom blocks for various departments, magnificent ICT centers, upgraded medical clinic, SUG secretariat/lodge, lectures block, to mention but a few.
This massive transformation is actually what changed, it changed the perception of the old that visitors are stunned by the level of the infrastructural development within the short period of five years.

Considering the huge infrastructural and seren environment now achieved, you have to come forth to study and accomplish your dream without undue stress.
You should know that as the new management is rigorous and profusely pursuing physical, it is also creating career opportunities.
Today, the College add Business Administration, Computer science, marketing, Publix administration, and Traditional Cooperative Economics and Management that it met when it came on board. You see, the bases ell is fully loaded across the facilities of management, physical and social science.
The atmosphere needed for conducive and convenient learning is place, because it did not just elect the needed structures but equipped fully with the state of facilities at all levels.
Our traditional and E- Library are armed to the teeth. Power is a non-negotiable issues in the college, to that effect a KVA sound proof generating set is in place to support the solar powered energy that is connected to all vital place when EEDC power grid falls.
The sensational new face and upgrade in the college did not leave our security. The solar power street lamp at all crannies gives the security personnel an edge in exercising their duties at all time supported by under-cover personnel with modern security gadgets to optimally function.
Functional mini-buses give an around service to students and staff. This enable efficient movement from campus to town and forth. Sometimes essential services whenever and wherever..
This team in the shop of new management is navigated by somebody, whose initiative and wisdom sail this great platform to shores of unprecedented achievement over a very short period.
It is disolate bold step that cannot be taken for the sake of just it. This new captain has a dream and fight to actualize it very aware of enormous challenges ahead. So Pastor Dr. O.T Owan, the provost of FCCO convinced and Assemble his able soldiers to go into this new must win battle of FCCO transformation.
He invested his time, money, pride, and associated risk to make the corpse walk and did. The responsibility of this FCCO transformation rested on his shoulders and he did not stumble at any point. The goal is not fully achieve yet, but the finish line is in sight and very close.
Dr. Owans up-lightness, openness, humility, kindness, resolute, commitment, tough skinned and believed led this revolution that resulted in the transformation we are talking about.
Unselfishly, he attributed the milestone to the professional contribution of his wonderful team that he so much believe in. He weatherd the storm and today the results there for all to see.

The teaching model here is not pure lecturing approach as obtained in other higher institution but an effective teaching/learning model. This model allows the students to communicate more effectively while the classes are going-on.

This great transformation did not leave the human development out of the equation..the college support their staffs for more Academic development, financially and otherwise.
It partners with other professional bodies to provide human capacity building and skills acquisition to staff, students and the community as the case maybe.
An annual agro-farners Cooperative workshop that directly empower over 5000 people across the states of South-Easth and South- South with minimum of #100000 cash each, indirectly support over 10000 families is a project package by the Federal Government but redesign by the college as stated achieve much more economic and social Impact.

The phrase New Management as often been used In this narrative, it has to be mentioned that previous management has had their own shot and achieved as much as they did or can but this new management has set precedence.
All our courses are fullyaccredited by NBTE and all our graduates are enrolls for NYSC.
