DR PETER MBAH: RIDING HIGH IN ENUGU
Even his naysayers admit that he is a game changer. Love him or not, Dr. Ndubuisi Mbah, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2023 governorship election in Enugu state has been the most significant playmaker in Enugu politics for the last 8 months.
Known as the single-most important factor in the politics of his senatorial zone of Enugu east, since 2003 - 2004 when he became the chief of staff to the state government as well as Commissioner For Finance, respectively. Mbah has helped to cultivate a political dynasty that has empowered many young people, while also efficiently working to utilize the limited resources under his coordination, for the development of his people.
This year, when Enugu chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), elected him as its candidate for governor in the upcoming general elections, Mbah's silent influence could be felt in the life of the party delegates. This is because, as a legal practitioner, an astute oil business magnet, a former Chief of Staff in the state, and now the expecting administration, Dr. Mbah has always prioritized performance and competence when it comes to leadership.
In the private sector of the economy in the Nigeria downstream oil and gas industry, Mbah has made a serious mark through his disruptive innovative ideas to disrupt the existing status quo through Pinnacle farm tank established in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos state, Nigeria. Through his private business, Owo community and other neighbouring villages in Nkanu East LGA has benefited from his larg heart and act of benevolency through the construction of rural roads, cottage hospitals, scholarship schemes and reconstruction of dilapidated primary and secondary school structures.
Few years back, Dr. Mbah has also sponsored the payment of tuition fees for over 2000 students from Enugu state annually, cutting across the three senatorial zones in the state, because he has said many times, "the easiest way to develop any community is by lifting its people out of poverty; and the surest way I know how to lift people out of poverty, is to guarantee that they have an education." This may also be why, since he became an entrepreneur and industrialist, Mbah has built and reconstructed over 50 classrooms across his senatorial zone and sponsored over 2000 Enugu people on a scholarship, that he pays for in a private capacity.
With the 2023 elections approaching, Ndi-Enugu believe that continuity for development with the PDP, will further help the state actualize the vision that was first set forth by Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani during his time as governor who also laid the foundation for the state economic programmes,policies and development. Few others who are torn between Mbah and the PDP, still acknowledge the giant strides of the man in the public-private sector. While other school of thought remain resolute that Mbah is the man for the job.
Be that as it may, as Ndi-Enugu go to the polls in the coming months to vote for their leaders at the national and state level, due to his achievements, and few group of antagonist who are against this wind of change to happen, one thing remains undisputed: Peter Mbah is still riding high in Enugu.
