I read with rapt attention the article titled "Will Labour Party Labour in Vain written by one Rev. Fr. Ben. Agbo. I enjoyed the reading and content of the article.
Agbo, though a Catholic Reverend Father did not hide his usual passion, support and loyalty for Labour Party, basically because of the vibes and importance, its Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi has brought into the party cum polity and the sudden defection of some aggrieved PDP members from Nsukka to the party.
By this action, Rev. Fr. Agbo has just descended into the political arena and should be ready to dance naked. He is now more labourer than members of Nsukka Labour Party and their social media e-rats. I don't know which section or chapter of Bible Rev. Fr. Agbo learnt this from. So far he has decided to play to gallery by using the pulpit to campaign for a particular political party. he should be ready to receive its consequences.
In as much as Rev. Agbo is entitled to his opinion, I totally disagree with some of his views, if not all. This is not the first time Rev.Fr Agbo is expressing his political views about the 2023 elections, especially as it concerns Enugu State and specifically Nsukka. This may not be the last. This has become his major project in recent times for reasons best known to him.
Rev. Fr. Agbo expectedly is just too involved, emotional, judgmental and sentimental in his political postulations.
This is essentially because Rev. Fr. Agbo is very ignorant and naive of the dynamics and intrigues of Nigerian politics. This perhaps explains why he often writes the way he feels and not the way it is. He may not agree with me, but that is the bitter truth about him and his articles.
I had once advised Rev. Fr. Agbo in my rejoinder to one of his write ups to remove his Cassock and join politics. This is because nothing constitutionally or otherwise stops him from playing partisan politics, if he desires. Hiding under the pulpit to do so is not potraying the Catholic church and Agbo in a good light.
If Rev.Fr. Agbo cannot play partisan politics, knowing that it is not his turf or calling, he should stay off and avoid making mockery of himself with his controversial positions and bias articles.
If not, how can Rev. Fr Agbo authoritatively ascribe the conditions of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, Prof. Charles Soludo, Reno Omokri and others to their oppositions to Mr. Peter Obi's presidential ambition?
Who told Rev. Fr. Agbo that and where did he get such bunkum? What about those who have spoken and acted against Mr. Obi's presidential ambition and nothing has happened to them? Is Rev. Fr. Agbo trying to ascribe to himself the power of God?If a Rev.Fr. of Agbo's calibre could be this judgmental, pedestrian, mundane and emotional in thought and action, one wonders what a layman can be or say.
If this is what Rev.Fr Agbo preaches in his church, he is just brainwashing, deceiving and manipulating the congregants. Elections in Nigeria go beyond emotional expressions, social media mob or ethnic attachments.
It is a realistic game and game of numbers characterized with a lot of last minute seen and unforeseen factors that usually determine the outcome.
In as much as I want Mr. Peter Obi to emerge the President of Nigeria next year, I am not emotional or sentimental about it to avoid being depressed or disappointed if he fails.
Yes, there has been massive social media mob for Obi's presidential bid. My prayer and wish is for it to translate to massive votes for him in the poll. This is the only way it can be proved that he is the new messiah Nigerians want.
Obi should not be carried away with the social media frenzy or mob action that seems to be in his favour now. That is by the way.
It is a blatant lie for Rev. Fr Agbo to say that Obidient movement has been gathering momentum especially in Enugu North Senatorial zone because of Governor Ugwuanyi's failure to give Mr. Peter Obi early support which seems to have angered Obidient family including the clergy.
The truth is that the Obidient movement is not gathering any momentum in Enugu North zone.
It is just the few aggrieved PDP members who jumped into Labour Party after losing PDP primaries alongside some failed politicians in Nsukka that are making noise and peddling lies on social media platforms in the name of Obidient movement in Enugu North zone. They are known and countable. They are of no political value. In short, they are more of urban guerillas and social media terrorists than grassroot politicians.
They are not of Obi's class. They are not Obi's associates or political allies. That is why Mr. Obi has refused to identify with any of them till date. They have failed to realise that Mr. Obi as a personality is quite different from Labour Party. They have been labouring in vain to ride on Mr. Peter Obi's back to power. The more they try, the more it fails them.
The activities of these serial losers masquerading as Labour Party candidates and members in Enugu North zone are not beyond Nsukka metropolis and Igbo-Etiti.
Other activities of theirs include fabricating and peddling of lies and propaganda against Governor Ugwuanyi and PDP candidates on social media platforms.
On Governor Ugwuanyi's support for Mr. Obi's presidential ambition, Obi has visited Governor Ugwuanyi and Rev. Fr. Agbo cannot claim ignorance of the visit and cannot claim knowledge of what transpired between them during the visit. That is beyond him.
Creating fake social media accounts and online media to concoct and share fake news against Governor Ugwuanyi and others are major activities and programmes of Nsukka Labour Party social media e-rats and their sponsors.
For Rev. Fr. Agbo to buy into the propaganda of the Nsukka Labour Party social media e-rats that Mr. Peter Mbah has integrity issue with the EFCC has clearly shown his bias. What kind of person is Rev. Fr. Agbo?
Is Rev. Fr Agbo saying that he is not aware that Mbah has never been indicted by any court. If that is the case, why and how can Rev. Fr. Agbo say that Mbah has integrity issue with EFCC without any evidence? Rev.Fr. Agbo by these postulations had exposed his bias against Governor Ugwuanyi, Mbah and PDP in the state.
On Rev.Fr. Agbo's claim that Ka Isi Uzo Jee Movement for equity in Enugu East Senatorial zone is still gathering momentum and Nsukka people seem not to be settled with Governor Ugwuanyi's Senatorial bid is a lie from the pit of hell.
Ka Isi Uzo Jee movement was dead on arrival, because it was made more of Nsukka project than that of Enugu East Senatorial zone from inception. A development that didn't go down well with the majority of Enugu East Senatorial zone people that preferred a candidate from Nkanu axis. Nkanu people have 95 percent of votes in Enugu East Senatorial zone.
That is why majority of the political parties including PDP, APC, APGA even Labour Party if Mr. Evarest Nnaji wins the Labour Party governorship rerun election choose their governorship candidates from Nkanu.
If Rev. Fr. Agbo said he is unsettled with Governor Ugwuanyi's Senatorial ambition, I won't be surprised. He has before now expressed such in one of his jaundiced articles. Who is Rev.Fr. Agbo to speak with finality on how Nsukka people should or would choose their leaders in the elections? Can Rev.Fr. Agbo tell the world why Nsukka people are unsettled with Governor Ugwuanyi's Senatorial ambition, when Governor Ugwuanyi has developed Nsukka and empowered the people of the zone more than any government before his?
On Rev.Fr Agbo's claim that Governor Ugwuanyi seems to be on a face saving peregrination mission among his people especially among the Catholic priests and that he is bent on spending a lot of money to achieve it is the height of insult to the Governor and the Catholic priests of which Rev. Fr Agbo is one.
Why and how should Governor Ugwuanyi be on a face saving mission to his own people, when it behoves them to use their votes to pay Governor Ugwuanyi back for his obvious good works and deeds in the zone since 2015 till date?
It is very big shame and disappointment for Rev. Fr. Agbo and cohorts (Nsukka Labourers) to be maligning and impugning their own son, Governor Ugwuanyi on social media platforms, when the people of Enugu East Senatorial zone and Enugu West Senatorial zone are accusing Governor Ugwuanyi of Nsukkanising his government with the appointment of many Nsukka people into his government and doing a lot of infrastructural projects in Nsukka.
This is what the people of Nkanu never did to Senator Chimaroke Nnamani and people of Udi never did to Mr. Sullivan Chime. This is despite the fact that niether Nnamani nor Chime addressed or tackled all the infrastructural challenges in their respective Senatorial zones, local governments and communities before leaving office.
For Rev. Fr Agbo to condescend so low to accuse Governor Ugwuanyi of being behind Chief Everest Nnaji of Enugu Labour Party governorship crisis and Ernest Ugwu of the Enugu North Senatorial zone Labour Party ticket tussle in court has shown that Rev. Agbo's parochialism, irredentism and partisanship. How can he level such weighty allegation against Governor Ugwuanyi without evidence? Don't he know the consequences of such false allegation or is he above the law?
Rev. Fr. Agbo is Nsukka Labour Party apologists masquerading in Cassock as a Catholic priest. It is high time the Catholic Diocese ask Rev. Fr. Agbo to take a leave and become a fulltime member of Nsukka Labour Party specifically their spokesman.
Perusing and digesting Rev.Fr. Agbo's article from the beginning to the end leaves no one in doubt where he stands. He is a card carrying member of Nsukka Labour Party that had been anti-Governor Ugwuanyi and the PDP.
The likes of Rev.Fr. Agbo and co-travellers are dangers and threats to the Christendom especially the Catholics that are known for non-partisan and controversy.
Rev. Fr. Agbo has exposed his hypocrisy, sympathy and preference for Nsukka Labour Party labourers by making himself one of their social media fabricators and peddlers of lies and propaganda against Governor Ugwuanyi on social media platforms with his recent article titled "Will Labour Party Labour in Vain." This is too bad of an ordained Catholic priest.
