Edeani Emerges Nkanu Youth Leader As Former Groups Collapse Structures

The protracted leadership tussle in the youth constituency of Enugu East Senatorial Zone, yesterday, came to an end as both factions of Nkanu Youth Council and Nkanu Youth Assembly led by Hon. Monday Diamond and Hon. Edeani M. Edeani dissolved their groups, accepted a new general body known as Nkanu Youth Organization and elected a new leadership.

The intervention led by Hon. Patty Okoh, which resumed months ago came to a happy ending yesterday at Villa Toscana Resort, Independence Layout Enugu. It kicked off with Hon. Monday Daimond, the President of Nkanu Youth Council and Hon. Edeani M. Edeani, the President of Nkanu Youth Assembly took their turns to denounce and dissolve their youth bodies and also accepted the new organization as well as the outcome of the scheduled election. Nomination and Open-Secret balloting ensued followed by counting and declaring of results.

Hon. Edeani M. Edeani emerged the new President with a wide margin and was therefore returned elected, other candidates who were also returned elected includes Miss Jennifer Onovo, National Secretary; Benneth Ngwu, National Financial Secretary; Atu Chris, National Organizing Secretary; Clement Orkanyichukwu, National PRO amongst others.

In their separate remarks, Hon. Patty Okoh, thanked the youths for their brotherly love, understanding and respect which saw to the free and fair conduct of the election; charging the new executives to carry everyone along and ensure that they deliver on their mandate.

 The new President, Hon Edeani M. Edeani took time to thank God, the stakeholders and  the delegates; for their votes which he said is a referendum on his person and his leadership. He also felicitated with the other 2 contenders for a fair brotherly contest while promising to unite the Nkanu Youths and ensure quality representation of the millions of Nkanu youths under him. He also appreciated Hon. Monday Diamond Ani for his role, promising to always work with him, now and in the hereafter.

On his part, the former President of the defunct Nkanu Youth Council Hon. Monday Diamond who spoke affectionately to the Press after the election thanked Nkanu youths for the support, love and brotherly fondness to each other, promising to support the new administration.

“I thank my good people of Nkanu land, My name is Monday Diamond Ani, known as Odoziobodo, before now I’m the National President of Nkanu Youth Council, and by God’s grace we have done our best to project the image of Nkanu both in Nkanu  and abroad. And today for the love and respect and value I have for Nkanu elders and youths especially Hon. Patty Okoh and all other stakeholders, and for the sake of Unity and love in Nkanu land, I decided to step down as president of Nkanu Youth Council and consequently dissolved my executives before my fellow Nkanu Youths. I equally agreed with the nominations and the election. If it’s not from my heart I would have opposed the nomination of Edeani M. Edeani which may have disqualified him from contesting but as God may have it he contested and won. I hereby promised before God, Man and the sun that if Edeani consults me, I’ll support him, if he decides not to consult me, I’ll still support him”  Hon Monday Diamond Ani. 

The Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Hon. Bath Ebuka Okoh and the former SA to Governor on Youths, Hon. Oge Nnamene amongst others equally applauded the unification. 

The event was crowned with joy and gaiety that followed suit.
