The uncommon transformermational leadership of the gubernatorial and deputy gubernatorial candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are known for three things; their full preparedness for the task ahead, their clear vision about their goals and commitment to it, and lastly their in-depth knowledge of the politics of their terrain. Until 1991, Enugu state was a shadow of its current state. After the full creation of the state in 1991, the economy of the state was abandoned, there was no new investment in infrastructural development. Every sectors of the state were basically in comatose. Dr. Chimaroke Ogbonnia Nnamani birthed the idea of the new Enugu, a mega city of enviable status. Before then he was a renowned Medical Doctor in the united states of America.
When Dr. Chimaroke Ogbonnia Nnamani returned to Nigeria in 1998, he joined partisan politics. At the helms of affair of Enugu state government, the current Enugu was then, probably Dr. Nnamani's 3D imagination, which has now transformed to realistic vision through commitment and purpose driven actions. Working with Dr. Chimaroke Ogbonnia Nnamani behind the scene was his erstwhile Chief of Staff and later Commissioner for finance and economic development, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the first ever Finance commissioner to be honoured as a man ahead of his time by the Prime newspapers. A man who provided the economic framework for the development of Enugu state is the PDP governorship candidate for the 2023 lion building's race. He is going to take over the mantle from Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and continuing in the uncommon transformermation process is also a man distinguished himself in the private sector economy, the Chairman/ CEO of Pinnacle Oil and Gas Limited.
A man responsible for the financial re-engineering and revenue mobilization for the state within the short time he spent serving the people of Enugu state as a commissioner for finance and economic development. Taking cognizance of the infrastructural development of Governor Ugwuanyi's administration in the rural areas, and massive youths empowerment programmes and many signature projects completed and some still ongoing around the state, the Mbah's programmes of multimodal transport system and sectoral management development plans, Enugu will be evolving to become the pride of Nigeria, Africa and beyond once taking into account as the next governor of the state.
A greater Enugu would not have been possible without friendly and iconic deputy governorship candidate of PDP, and the incoming deputy governor, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, whose regulations, good conduct and supportive brain, providing leadership in the co-ordination and administrative activities of the incoming administration in Enugu state. As a sound lawyer of reputable character, he will be saddled with the responsibility of drafting the administrative policies and to ensures the cabinet resolutions are implemented. Ossai as he fondly called by friends and acolytes was part the brains covertly working to ensure that the seamless positive transformation of Enugu state is supported by adequate legal backings in the last seven years.
Dr. Mbah after being a superlative businessman and oil mogul, rather than going to oversee an already thriving multinational oil and gas company he has nurtured, offered himself to the service of his home state. Dr. Mbah is not just an astute administrator but a man with progressive political orientation. His kind gesture is boundless, but he doesn't believe in money politics, he is an ardent supporter of politics of value. For Peter Mbah, community interest takes the lead, any other thing follows. Dr. Mbah/Barr Ossai, remain the best dreams of every average Enugu person for the new Enugu state.
