The chairman of Post Primary School Management Board (PPSMB), Dr. Mrs Favor Ugwuanyi and her board members have commenced unscheduled visits to government secondary schools in Enugu to monitor teachers performance, principals supervisory duties, students behavior , school facilities and overall cleanliness of school environment.
Dr Favor Ugwuanyi who tagged the visits, ON-SPOT TEACHERS/SCHOOLS ASSESSMENT MANDATE said it is most necessary to curb teacher absenteeism, monitor supervisory roles of the principals, check school facilities and the neatness of the school environment. She also said the surprise visit is necessary to ensure teachers strict compliance with the teaching time table to stimulate increased brain activity, improving students academic performance.
It is a known fact that the human brain has a development timeline for quality learning, retention of information, as such experts in education create school TIME TABLE to enable structured, teaching and learning through an incremental knowledge development cycle.
Learning is a progressive activity done through a methodical teaching, reading, testing and reports cycle within a timeline called a SCHOOL TERM.
Interruption to a structured teaching and learning curve creates hiccups as students are forced to take in much more than their brains can assimilate at a given time creating the popular effect of DIMINISHING RETURNS. Diminishing Returns implies a learning difficulty caused by information overload.
Teacher absenteeism negatively impacts on the students performance in external examinations and encourages truancy. Teacher absenteeism is simply education terrorism as students are improperly prepared to face examinations as such resort to malpractices.
Recall that Enugu State government secondary schools have recorded quantum leap in academic performance by breaking a 3-decade record as the best performing state in Nigeria in WAEC 2021 and also produced the best performing student in Nigeria in the year 2022. Dr Favor Ugwuanyi ON-SPOT SCHOOL ASSESSMENT is set to make Enugu state the best performing state in West Africa in 2023. Twenty government secondary schools have been visited and many more will be visited across the six education zones of Enugu state.
Teachers of Enugu state government schools are motivated and there is conducive and secure teaching and learning environment, special thanks to the education friendly Gov, HE Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Dr Favor is a round peg in a round hole . School and teacher performance rating is at all time high in Enugu.
